Today Africa News team has congratulated the Super Falcons of Nigeria for their impressive performance at the ongoing 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The team has also accoladed the centre referee Melissa Borjas for immediately upgrading the earlier yellow card she had shown to Lauren James to a red card, who after 84th minutes lost possession in a contest with defender Michelle Alozie.
After losing her balance and falling over Alozie, James pushed herself up and then stepped on the Nigeria defender with her studs.
From the watch of the match, Nigeria outplayed, and outclassed England completely until they scraped past a tactically superior Nigeria on penalties to progress to the World Cup quarter-finals.
